Veterans Day is honored this year on Friday November 11th, 2022. While we should always show our appreciation for our Veterans every day of the year, this day is a special day to go the extra mile and honor them in every way possible. Here is a list of some of our favorite ways to honor Veterans this Veterans Day.

  • Tell them thank you.
  • Send a letter or care package to an active military member.
  • Send a letter or care package to a former military Veteran.
  • Treat a vet to lunch, coffee, or dinner.
  • Help a Veteran in your neighborhood with household chores.
  • Volunteer at a local veteran organization in your community.
  • Donate to an organization that helps veterans.
  • Support veteran owned companies.
  • Attend a veterans day parade to show your support.
  • Ask a veteran about their experience and listen to their stories.
  • Check with local VA hospitals to see how you can help or volunteer. Keep in mind there may still be COVID regulations.
  • If you notice a member of the military at the same restaurant as you, send them a drink or pay for their meal.
  • If you own a business, offer Veterans a special discount or something free.
  • Call the Veterans in your family that live farther away and ask how they are doing.
  • If you have children, get them involved by having them color a picture or write a letter to Veterans in your community.
  • Remember Veterans during other holidays, especially those without family. Send a Thanksgiving card, Christmas card or Valentines card, to either a Vet that you know or through a VA Hospital or VFW.
  • Start a Donation Drive: Ask local businesses to participate in a drive for local veterans or deployed service-members.
  • Do a random act of kindness for a vet or their family. Remain anonymous.
  • Visit a Veteran’s National Cemetary to pay respect to those who served and passed away.
  • Go to your local VFW to ask if you can donate, either money or volunteering your time.
  • If you own a company, hire a Veteran.
  • Organize a fundraiser for local Veterans in your community.
