Family Friendly Holiday Activities In and Around Saratoga
Upstate New York is a wonderful place to be year round, but it’s especially great during the holiday season. There are so many family friendly events and activities to participate in all season long – one of the many benefits of living in and around Saratoga County.
For those of you that live in our Saratoga County communities and throughout the Capital District, here is an overview of a few of our favorite holiday activities for families to enjoy.
The Train to Christmas Town
Experience the magic of the holidays at Saratoga North Creek Railroad! Ride the Train to Christmas Town with your family, and you’ll enjoy a round-trip journey to the North Pole complete with caroling, hot chocolate, a special gift for each child and the chance to meet Santa! This event is a family favorite that’s sure to become a beloved tradition.
Capital Holiday Lights in the Park
Taking a ride to enjoy the holiday lights is a great family friendly holiday activity. During the Capital Holiday Lights in the Park event in Albany NY, Washington Park transforms into a winter wonderland complete with animated lights displays. After driving through the more than 125 light scenes and displays, you can enjoy crafts and refreshments in the Lakehouse, all while getting to meet costumed characters and – of course – Santa Claus himself.
First Night Saratoga
Participate in one of Upstate New York’s cherished New Year’s Eve traditions – First Night Saratoga! During this event, Saratoga comes alive with activities and entertainment the whole family will enjoy followed by an impressive fireworks display at midnight. Featuring music, magic acts, face painting, a petting zoo and so much more for kids of all ages, First Night is a great New Year’s Eve event for the whole family.
Sledding
Sledding is always a favorite family friendly winter activity – and there are lots of great places to go sledding throughout the Capital District! Whether you prefer snow tubes, saucers or toboggans, you’re sure to have a good time.
