If you are in the process of building a home or remodeling your current house, there are many decisions that need to be made regarding design choices. The kitchen is no exception and is one of the rooms that people spend the most time designing. One of those important decisions could be deciding on what kitchen cabinet types to place in the room. There are many kinds of kitchen cabinets, let’s take a look at a few of them to learn more.

Shaker Style

The shaker style cabinet is one of the most popular kitchen cabinet types. It is a popular choice among homeowners because it has a clean and classic look. The clean look can fit in nicely with any interior design style. Most shaker style cabinets come in a variety of styles, materials, and colors. They are typically built with high quality wood like oak, hickory, cherry, and maple. The cabinets are built with five separate pieces of flat panel to create a cabinet frame. When building or remodeling your kitchen, the shaker style cabinet is a great choice because they are always fully stocked, and they are priced at a reasonable rate.

Louvered

Some homeowners choose to go with louvered kitchen cabinets which is another one of the more popular kitchen cabinet types. Louvered cabinets add a more luxurious look to your kitchen with their uniquely layered, horizontal slab design. These kitchen cabinet types are perfect for spaces that need better ventilation like near a stove, pantry, or a radiator. The unique design can be the perfect addition to a simpler designed kitchen.

Flat-Panel or Slab

Flat-panel cabinets, or “slab” cabinets, are comprised of a simple structure without any flashy details. These kitchen cabinets go great with any type or kitchen aesthetic. Flat-panel cabinets tend to be a cheaper option than other kitchen cabinet types. They are also a popular choice when considering maintenance and cleaning, since they have a flat front design that is easy to clean. These simple styled cabinets can be spruced up by adding luxury hardware, a bright color of paint, or unique wood stain.

Inset

Inset cabinets are a great choice if you are looking to add a unique flair to your kitchen. Typical kitchen cabinet types have doors on the outside of the frame, while inset cabinets have doors on the inside of the frame. Since each piece must be carefully measured for proper opening and closing of the doors and can be difficult to install, these cabinets tend to be on the more expensive end of the spectrum. Something to consider with design though is you have less options. You need to make sure the hinges, knobs, and handles all match. They will all be visible at once, so it is important that they all match.
