The time for trick or treating is almost here. It’s a favorite day for many children all over the world. They get to dress up in fun costumes and go door to doors showing them off and asking for candy. While trick or treating can be an exciting time, it’s important to remember important Halloween safety tips to keep your children and others safe. Whether you are handing out candy at home, accompanying your children trick or treating through town, or letting your older children go off on their own, make sure that everyone in your household is educated on Halloween safety tips. Here are some of the most important Halloween safety tips for the Trick or Treaters in your home.  

    1. Use traffic lights and signals when crossing roads to get from house to house. 
    1. Pay attention to your surroundings and traffic, put your electronic devices down. 
    1. Always walk on the sidewalk if there is one. 
    1. Kids under the age of 12 should be trick or treating with an adult. 
    1. If trick or treating without adult supervision, make sure kids are traveling in a large group. 
    1. Carry flashlights to help drivers see you in the dark. 
    1. Wear light colors, glow in the dark, glow sticks, or reflective tape to allow drivers to see you better. 
    1. Make sure that costumes fit correctly to avoid any tripping. 
    1. Test out any face makeup or adhesives with a small amount on your skin prior to the big night. This way you can see if you have an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients. 
    1. Have a parent or adult go through your candy before eating any of it to check for unwrapped candy or anything dangerous. 
    1. Never run in the streets.
