The holidays are coming quick and soon your houseguest will be arriving! Having the family home for the holidays is great but can feel a little overwhelming preparing for their arrival. You want to make sure that your guest feel welcome from the time they arrive to the time they leave. There are a few easy things you can do to make them feel relaxed!

  • Thoroughly clean the room they are staying in, you’ll want to do a deep clean. Make sure to put fresh linens on the bed.
    • tip: get fresh flowers, it will make the space smell nice and fresh flowers make people smile :) 
  • Make a space in a drawer or closet for their clothes. If they do not want to empty their suitcase, make a space for it out of the way.
  • Stock the bedside table
    • Add a toothbrush, bottle of water, shampoo/conditioner, the wi-fi password and maybe even some local goodies from the area. 
  • Keep towels, pillows and blankets at the end of the bed
  • Make sure that coffee is accessible, you could set up a coffee bar for you guest.
  • Clean out your fridge, stock your kitchen with some grab and go snacks for your guest and remember fresh fruit is always a must have!
    • Ask your guest if they have an dietary needs – if they do, head to the market and stock up! 
  • Charcuterie boards are all the rage right now – greet your guest with an amazing meat and cheese board and don’t forget the wine!
  • Leave your guest the spare key, that will not only give them freedom, but you as well.
  • Let your neighbor or landlord know you will be having guest, no need to have them calling 911.
  • If your guest are bringing their animals, make sure to have plenty of fresh water on hand.
    • If you want to gain bonus points with their pets – grab some treats
  • During 2020, you were likely to stock up on toilet paper, so make sure your guest don’t run out during their stay.
  • Leave a list of restaurants, attractions and fun things to do while your guest are visiting.
