At this time of the year, we all find ourselves saying “New Year – New Me,” right? Why not adopt some decluttering habits to keep your house organized throughout the year.
- Start with 5 minutes a day
- Separate donations and trash
- Donate your clothes you do not wear
- Organize your spices
- Toss expired makeup or bathroom products
- Find a specific spot for mail and bills
- Pick up 5 things per day and find a spot for them, if they don’t have a spot, then donate them
- Leftover Amazon shipping boxes from Christmas? Toss them!
- Donate old towels to animal shelters
- Utilize the space under your bed, get storage containers for clothing
- Do you have books you no longer read? See if your local library will take them
- Clear the coffee table
- Take a challenge called 12-12-12 – locate 12 items to throw away, 12 to donate, and 12 to be returned to their spot

- Take a before and after of your room, it will keep you motivated to keep going with the rest of the house
- Becoming minimalist mentions the “Four-Box Method – Get four boxes and label them: trash, give away, keep, or re-locate.” Dont forget to go through everything!
